Belize Birding Tours
A Bird Watcher's Paradise
Belize and Copal Tree's diverse habitats are a birding paradise along the migratory routes of numerous Northern and Southern American species, hosting hundreds of Tropical and Neotropical birds. Spotting over 200 species in five days is common due to few human inhabitants and dedicated preservation efforts.
Situated on a 1,000-acre expanse of lowland broadleaf forest, Copal Tree is perfect for both serious and novice birdwatchers. The Rio Grande River meanders through the property and 30,000 acres of protected land form its eastern boundary. From atop Big Hill, birdwatchers enjoy uninterrupted jungle views and sightings of soaring raptors. The organic gardens and citrus groves at the property's base also attract a variety of birds.
Our guides, avid bird watchers themselves, love sharing the rich avian life of Copal Tree and Belize. Mentored by leading experts like Dr. Lee Jones, author of "Birds of Belize," they offer a remarkable depth of avian knowledge.
Join us for one of our tailored birdwatching tours and experience the incredible biodiversity the lodge and Belize have to offer!
“We spent 4 nights earlier this month at the Copal Tree Lodge. The food was top notch and the venue was outstanding. However, our 3 days birding with Emmanuel Chan exceeded all of the above. My wife (an avid birder) identified 126 different species during our visit, under “Chan’s” expert guidance. We are already looking forward to our return visit to discover more birds withe one of the premier birders in Southern Belize!” -Tim, Connecticut
